[Norfolk, VA] [December 7, 2011] – Lincoln Military Housing (LMH) has confirmed to seven Navy families in their Hampton Roads communities that their homes are safe for occupancy after certified inspectors conducted testing confirming that there are no unacceptable levels of mold. The tests were conducted in accordance with industry and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency guidelines. The seven homes were among the residences identified for testing by LMH service technicians during the course of other home maintenance over the past two weeks.

Test results for the remaining homes are pending. Those residents will be notified as soon as the tests are complete, which could be as early as this week.

“The care, comfort and safety of our residents are our highest concern,” Jarl Bliss, President of LMH, said. “Despite what has been reported in recent news stories, we conduct the necessary tests for mold whenever the situation warrants and take the appropriate actions to ensure we provide the safe, comfortable homes that our military families deserve.”

Just last week, Bliss ordered a comprehensive maintenance review and put in place a remedy program at all LMH housing in the Hampton Roads region following maintenance concerns raised by residents to LMH. The results of that review are expected to be released in the first week of January, 2012. In the event mold remediation is required, LMH will move the affected families out of their homes – and pay for temporary housing – while the corrective actions are being performed.

LMH currently manages 4,381 homes in the Hampton Roads area serving Navy and Marine Corps service personnel and their families. Since taking over Navy-owned and managed housing in 2005, more than 14,600 families have lived in these LMH Hampton Roads communities.

Since 2001, Lincoln Military Housing has developed and managed more than 31,000 military family homes across the country working closely with all levels of the armed services including Navy, Marine Corps, Army and Air Force leaders, to create a new and improved standard of military housing.
